About Jackie:
I am a mom of 1 grown almost flown son who’s getting ready to serve in our military with the Marine Corps.
When he was just a few months old I had been looking for an instructor to teach him self rescue skills since the instructor that taught my sisters girls was no longer teaching. Unfortunately the only instructor I could find could not accommodate my work schedule so I was out of luck until ISR came to the JCC in 2005 where my son attended preschool. I was the first one to sign up and coincidentally I had left my position at my job so I was able to take him and to watch his lessons every day.
I was truly amazed at the process and his progression in his skills that I had asked a ton of questions during them.
At some point near the end of his session I was approached by the Master Instructors that were training a few student instructors at the time to take over the program at the JCC and asked if I would be interested in becoming certified and teaching there as well. I of course jumped at the chance and I was in the water training just a few short weeks after my son learned this valuable skill.
As well as training to be an ISR instructor I was also offered the position of Aquatic Director and did that for many years until I decided that I only wanted to teach children to self rescue and that was where my passion was.
So here I am all these years later still teaching and providing families with valuable water safety information that they can share.
I am so lucky that ISR gave me the opportunity to become certified which lead me to have a wonderful career and hundreds of children skilled in aquatic survival should they ever find water alone. I have also stayed in contact with many of families over the years and I believe that I am very close to getting the children of the children that I have taught.
